Berwyn Prison Joinery Package

Bespoke Joinery At Wrexham Prison

RW Joinery successfully completed a joinery package on all blocks of the HMP Berwyn in Wrexham working for Lend Lease Construction.

HM Prison Berwyn is a £250,000,000 Category C adult male prison in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is the largest prison in England and Wales and is the second largest prison in Europe.

There are three wings in total – Alwen, Bala and Ceiriog, each housing 702 men. Alwen recently opened in May and Ceiriog in July.

Each wing has been split into eight communities. In total Berwyn holds 2,106 inmates when fully operational.

Our works consisted of doorsets and ironmongery, reception desks, cell furniture and second fix FF&E.

Most works were installed prior to Lend Lease handing over the building to the prison, however much of the FF&E was installed once the prison became secure.

Our works package including Doorsets exceeded £2.5M
