What Certification Should My Doorset Supplier Have

What Certification Should My Doorset Supplier Have?

Selecting a doorset manufacturer is in many ways no different from selecting any other service provider. In that there are numerous entities operating within the market and that it is often difficult to ascertain the calibre or quality of these entities without committing to their services. Many companies provide evidence of certification, but without an understanding of these certifications, they can often be meaningless.

In order to help you to understand the key certification that all reputable doorset suppliers should have, we have provided a brief guide to these certifications.

ISO 9001 and ISO 14001:

These certifications recognise the doorset supplier’s ability to perform manufacture and installation services for commercial, residential interior and external joinery, including both bespoke joinery items and purpose made doorsets, in line with BS 476 Part 22. These applications include Health, Education, Offices Housing and Leisure developments.

Exova BM Trada Q-Mark:

This is a certification of product quality provided by an unbiased third party organisation. The Q-Mark provides customers with the satisfaction that the supplier’s products have been properly tested and are manufactured to a consistently high standard. Unlike some of the other certifications within this field, the Q-Mark certification is widely regarded as one of the most rigorous processes available from construction products. This process has resulted in the Q-Mark certification’s recognition by controlling authorities and world-class construction and manufacturing companies.

Building Confidence:

This certification demonstrates a company’s compliance with a leading standard of excellence. This is less relevant for those looking to simply purchase a doorset as it is more related to the application process. However it demonstrates that the company can be relied upon to fit doorsets in a manner which is effective and safe.

CHAS:

Similar to the Building Confidence certification, CHAS certification enables a business to demonstrate that they meet the required and recognised standards to be employed as a contractor. The calibre of this certification is such that many local authorities and businesses will simply refuse to work with contractors who do not have CHAS certification. For acceptance to the scheme a contractor must demonstrate a recognised standard of health and safety management that covers compliance issues regarding the contractor’s field of work.
