Balfour Beatty called upon RW Joinery’s extensive knowledge of refurbishment works and manufactured joinery when appointing them to this project.

Refurbishment of an existing school came under the Blackburn, Darwen & Bolton BSF scheme with a set of challenges that didn’t exist with the other five academies and schools RW Joinery supplied within this scheme.

Over a hundred new doorsets were manufactured for this scheme, many of which are bespoke as they had to fit into a myriad of existing openings. Our client also wished to reuse where ever possible existing doorsets and nearly two hundred leaves were removed, refurbished and replaced.

The jewels in this refurbishment are the reflection area. Solid timber panels, with secret doorways spanned walls and ceiling creating recesses for mood and safety lighting. A central recessed dais and alcove include a latitudinal recessed groove pointing towards Mecca.

RW Joinery also laid a solid polished Oak floor polished to a standard to reflect the walls and ceilings.

RW Joinery also worked on five other schools and academies within this scheme, designing, manufacturing and installing laminate faced doorsets with semi concealed American White Oak lipping and polished American White Oak glazing beads.

RW Joinery met with all the environmental criteria such as ISO1400 and FSC supplied timbers as required by Balfour Beatty.
