Last year we were privileged to work on a project for Balfour Beatty.

The project? A £42 million contract to transform the Fletcher complex at De Montfort University Leicester and create striking new buildings for the world-renowned schools of Art, Architecture and Design.

The construction also led to the creation of the Jonathan KS Choi Creative and Cultural Centre, which provides a space for students and staff from around the globe, to pursue study, stimulate minds and nurture creativity.

The centre also contains the innovative new home for the DMU Confucius Institute, which will promote Chinese language and culture.

Our work included the manufacture and installation of over 700 high performance ceiling height laminate faced doorsets and a large second fix joinery package.

The main interest to us, however, was the design manufacture and installation of a Harry Potter” staircase. Having been redesigned frequently the staircase consisted of a series of flights of steps each overlaying each other all in different directions and plains. The final breath-taking staircase was finished in solid Oak and laminate faced panels.

Our thought process during the design stages of this project was simply: “...if you can draw it, we can make it”.

On this occasion we had to put our money where our mouth was, and this was the result. A totally stunning, complexed feat of engineering with the highest calibre of skilful installation that has created the outstanding feature in this state-of -the-art global learning centre.
